IronFlock

For integrators & developers

Stop rebuilding the plumbing for every customer

Connectivity, edge deployment, remote access, a data layer, a UI builder and an AI that learns every app you install: documented, scriptable, and free to start. Ship your containers; keep your customers.

What you don't have to build

The six things every customer solution needs and nobody wants to write again

  • ConnectivityCollectors for S7, OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus and IO-Link as apps. Import a TIA Portal export and the tags are polling. Node-RED is in the store for the odd protocol.
  • Edge runtimeThe agent runs your containers on the customer's own Linux, real-time kernels included, with host device access, privileged mode, host networking and the NVIDIA container runtime.
  • Data layerTime-series storage at the edge and in the cloud, custom SQL, materialised and scheduled transforms, an ad-hoc SQL panel, and a Data Relay that buffers towards any downstream system.
  • UI & boardsA no-code board builder with pages, forms, switches and write-back, and every widget can be embedded in the AI chat. Build your own UI in App Studio when you need more.
  • Distribution & updatesPush images to the IronFlock registry from your CI; the appliance registry mirrors them. Staged OTA rollouts to device groups, online or offline.
  • Remote access & securityBrokered, logged sessions to HMIs, PLCs and your app's ports. Multi-tenancy, granular permissions, audit logs, so you don't have to argue with every customer's IT again.
LineOps: the line board with its stations on the left, one IPC per line in the middle, and the assembly, leak test and packaging station screens on the right

Example: LineOps

An end-of-line quality app, built by IronFlock on IronFlock

LineOps digitises the end of an assembly line: barcode-checked production counting at packaging, andon calls with escalation to quality, maintenance and warehouse, approved work instructions on every station screen, and a live line dashboard. One IPC runs each line; the whole plant is one board.
  • All of its state lives in IronFlock tables, through the SDK. No database of its own.
  • Supervisors, departments and plant admins work on an IronFlock board; the station screens are embedded in it.
  • Andon notifications are platform alarms. No mail or SMS code.
  • Machine values come from the installed PLC collector app. No PLC driver in LineOps.

LineOps was built with Claude Code and the IronFlock plugin.

Developer workflow

Your container is already an IronFlock app

An app is a Docker image plus a few template files in its .ironflock folder. Existing images convert without a rewrite; new ones can start from App Studio's templates.
  1. Buildin App Studio or your own IDE; push from GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket.
  2. Declarewhat the app exposes (tables, ports, settings) so the assistant learns its skills.
  3. Deployto one device, a group, or a customer's whole fleet.
  4. Publishprivately to your customers or publicly in the store; keep the IP, set the licence.
# Excerpt of LineOps' .ironflock/data-template.ymlconsumes: - app: PLCCollectordata: tables: - tablename: andon_events maintainLatestFlagFor: [request_no] columns: - id: request_no dataType: string - id: station_id dataType: string - id: state dataType: string

Build it with Claude Code

A Claude Code plugin that knows how IronFlock apps are built

The IronFlock plugin teaches your coding agent the platform: where each kind of data goes, a starter app, every template in the .ironflock folder, the board widgets, and a validator that catches what the platform would otherwise report only at install time. Open source under the MIT licence.

The assistant is extensible

Every app you ship teaches the assistant a skill

The multi-agent system reads the data layer and the apps installed in a project. Install a vision app and the assistant can grade images; install a collector and it can commission the device. You don't write prompts: you declare what your app can do.

Good to know

  • No vendor lock-in: your images, your data, exportable at any time.
  • The free tier includes App Studio, remote access and unlimited apps.
  • Built-in tools (boards, alarms, assistant) are optional: bring your own if you prefer.
  • Scales from one device to thousands without changing the architecture.
